Kosher snacks. Your shopping reference.

A few familiar snacks can make the weekly shop easier. Here’s a practical starting point for finding kosher popcorn, crackers, fruit snacks and treats in Australia — with the details that matter right beside each product.

Use the exact flavour, size and country listed. Where a logo or supplier code is required, check it on the pack before buying.

Last reviewed: 17 September 2026. Kosher status and packaging can change. Check the current Kashrut Authority product directory and any applicable notices against your packet. This guide does not replace a kosher authority’s advice or your school’s food policy. Availability varies by store and region.

Know the labels

  • Pareve: the kosher classification recorded for the exact product. It is not an allergy-safety claim.
  • Dairy: keep separate from pareve choices. Chalav stam or Chalav Yisrael is only stated where verified; otherwise this guide says the Chalav status is unverified.
  • Dairy vessels: a separate classification, not treated as ordinary pareve here. Follow your household’s practice or ask your kosher authority.

Neither pareve nor dairy-vessel status guarantees suitability for someone with a milk allergy. Always read the allergen label.

Popcorn

  • Cobs Natural Popcorn Sea Salt — Pareve. Match this flavour.
  • Cobs Natural Popcorn Lightly Salted Slightly Sweet — Pareve. Manufacturer-listed sizes: 120g and 30g. Its manufacturer describes it as nut free and gluten free, but also says may contain milk. Read the current pack; this is not a school-approval claim.
  • Cobs Natural Popcorn Sea Salt & Cider Vinegar — Pareve. Match the full name. If your pack says only “Sea Salt & Vinegar”, confirm that exact product before relying on this entry.
  • Cobs Natural Popcorn Drizzl’d Milk Chocolate Lightly Salted & Slightly Sweet — Dairy, Chalav stam. A KA notice flags an incorrect pareve symbol on this product. Do not treat it as pareve even if that symbol appears on your pack.

Woolworths popcorn: check before buying
Lightly Salted 80g and Sweet & Salty 120g remain unresolved in this guide, not settled recommendations. The June 2023 KTC list used 8698; current conditional KA entries use 86981, alongside entries without a code condition. The entries do not show individual revision dates, so we cannot reliably say which is newest. Ask KA to confirm the entry and code that apply to your exact pack. Do not treat either number as interchangeable or shorten it.

Chips and savoury snacks

All choices below are pareve, except the Ajitas Tasty Cheese Vege Chips explicitly marked dairy.

  • Smith’s Original; Smith’s Thinly Cut Original — Product of Australia only.
  • Lay’s Classic Potato Chips — Product of Australia only. The recorded entry identifies the Costco product; check the actual pack and local availability.
  • Doritos Original Salted Corn Chips — Product of Australia only. Other flavours are not covered.
  • Thins Original Potato Chips.
  • Kettle Sea Salt; Kettle Sea Salt & Vinegar with Cider Vinegar. These exact flavours only.
  • Red Rock Deli Australian Sea Salt Deli Style Potato Chips. Other flavours are not covered.
  • Authentic French Fries Original Crunchy Potato Straws. This packaged snack, not frozen fries.
  • Coles Original Crinkle Cut Chips, 175g / 20 single-serve packs. Required vendor code: A0441. Individual bags in the multipack must have batch codes beginning 3 or 4.
  • Coles I’m Free From Gluten, Wheat & Nuts Sea Salt Corn Chips. Required vendor code: AO734-0001, as displayed by KA. Match it exactly; if the letter O and zero are unclear, confirm before relying on the entry. The product name alone is not an independently verified allergy-safety claim.
  • Ajitas Vege Chips Natural.
  • Ajitas Vege Chips Tasty Cheese — Dairy; Chalav status not verified. These are different from the pareve Tasty Cheese rice crackers below.
  • Mission Deli Style White Corn Strips. Do not substitute Mission Chilli Lime, which is marked not acceptable.
  • Eat Real Bio Organic Veggie Straws — KLBD logo required. This is not approval of every Veggie Straws product.
  • Orgran Crunchy Snacks Pizza. Other Crunchy Snacks flavours are not covered by this entry.
  • DJ&A Broccoli Florets; Crispy Beetroot Slices; Crispy Broccoli Florets Sea Salt & Vinegar — KA logo required. These exact products are pareve; do not extend this to the whole DJ&A range.

Woolworths Original Soya Crisps 400g: check before buying
KA entries show 79975001 and 78719001; the latter is described as printed vertically beside the barcode. Both appear online, without individual revision dates. These are not interchangeable approvals. Confirm the applicable entry for your pack with KA before using this guide to select it.

Find more kosher snack options at Krinsky’s Kosher Supermarket; check each product’s label and applicable certification. A retailer listing is not blanket approval of everything it stocks.

Check the pack

A quick four-point check helps avoid buying a lookalike:

  1. Match the product. Brand, full flavour, size and multipack contents should match the listed entry.
  2. Find the required logo. KA is the Kashrut Authority; KAust refers to Kosher Australia. Diamond KA, KLBD, KBD and OK are specific requirements, not interchangeable symbols. Where a logo is required here, the brand name alone is not enough.
  3. Read the whole code. Supplier, vendor and batch codes are different from a barcode. Match every character and any required starting digits. If the code is missing or unclear, check with the authority rather than guessing.
  4. Check the country and classification. Imported versions can differ. Keep pareve, dairy and dairy-vessel products distinct, even when their packets look similar.

For entries with conflicting codes, use the caution boxes above rather than picking whichever number happens to match. Find the KA product-directory resource in Jewish Syd or go directly to KA’s current search.

Packing for school

Use this guide to find options, then check your school’s current requirements for nuts, dairy, Chalav Yisrael, shared food and home-decanted snacks. No product here is labelled universally school-approved.

Carman’s peanut and nut bars are not nut-free-school choices. For other products, check the current ingredients and allergen statement; “pareve”, “vegan” and “gluten free” do not mean allergy-safe.

Cobs Lightly Salted Slightly Sweet has manufacturer support for nut-free and gluten-free wording, alongside a may contain milk warning. Keep those details together and confirm school acceptance before packing it.

Sources and review date

Product conditions are drawn from the Kashrut Authority product directory and category notes, reviewed on 17 September 2026, with the June 2023 KTC list as the historical starting point. Individual KA entries generally do not show revision dates; the review date is not a certificate expiry date.

The KA July 2024 update supports the dated additions described above. Cobs’ Lightly Salted Slightly Sweet product page supplies the manufacturer’s dietary and allergen wording. Check the current pack and current notices before buying.
